Salesforce.com Aquires Koral; Launches Apex Content Platform
Late last night, Salesforce announced that they have aquired the nine-person team from Koral to lead their content management initiative.
As a result, they are extending the Apex platform with Apex Content -- the former Koral platform. The first application running on Apex Content is Koral's own content management system, renamed to Salesforce ContentExchange. The ContentExchange will allow Salesforce customers to:
"...manage their documents and other unstructured data on demand as easily as they manage their structured data within the existing Salesforce CRM applications..."
According to Salesforce's press releaase, new capabilities in the Apex Content platform include:
- Workspace Management
- Library Services
- Content Classification Schema
- Full Text Index
- Workflow
According to Salesforce, pricing and availability of the new platform and of the Salesforce ContentExchange will be announced later this calendar year.
